Improving Data Quality

Improving Data Quality

We have been working with the social housing sector to make better use of data and transform how data is used. By improving data governance, quality and systems the sector can improve services provided to customers

How We Can Help

Improve Regulatory reporting: We have successfully completed a number of projects that have ensured the following;

  • The correct regulator definitions are being used and writing the business logic to support this
  • Data quality is improved for regulatory reporting, including missing and inconsistent data in IT systems
  • Consistent reporting for units, numbers, rents, development and losses data for all regulatory returns
  • Improved procedure including sign off
  • Warehouse templates to automate regulatory returns

Improve Data Assurance: We strongly recommend that data should be at the heart of social housing providers activities. We have seen how predictive analytics can transform performance. This is however, dependent on data being accurate and up to date. Our work with the sector has transformed data in the following way;

  • Check the ownership of units by using external land registry data which has improved the accuracy of regulatory reporting
  • Different IT systems are reporting correct unit data such as construction dates, property types, rent levels and repairs data
  • Developing and implementing a programme of works to fix poor data quality issues
  • Ensuring correct procedures are in place to maintain good quality data

Improve Property Compliance Data: Following the Hackett Review, the social housing sector is working diligently to ensure the safety of residents homes. We have worked with our customers to ensure the following;

  • Review and ensure storey levels of flats are correct especially those above 6 floors
  • Construction dates of individual units are reviewed and corrected
  • Compliance data for all units is available and up to date
  • Ensuring Housing Management and Repairs IT systems are reporting on the same data
